The Republic of Ireland held a referendum on same-sex marriage on May 23, 2015. Dublin crowds celebrated the referendum result on 24 May 2015 The electorate voted to amend the constitution to permit same sex marriage. The final result was: Yes – 1,201,607 (62.1%) No – 734,300 – (37.9%) The turnout was 60.5%.
