Progress Pride Flag

Progress Pride Flag & Progress Flag Meaning

Graphic designer Daniel Quasar decided to redesign the original rainbow flag again in 2018.

Quasar’s design was inspired by the Philadelphia Pride Flag (see above).

To emphasise inclusion, it uses brown and black stripes to represent LGBTI+ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Intersex +) people of color and adds the pink, white and blue from the Trans Pride Flag

Quasar then turned these colors into a five-color chevron. The arrow shape emphasises the need for progress. And, of course, this is set over the traditional six-stripe rainbow flag, in order that the meaning of the original flag is retained.

What Does It Mean to Be Progress?

The term “progress” is generally used to describe forward movement or development, often toward improvement or a better state. In the context of LGBTI+ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Intersex +) identities, “progress” can refer to the ongoing efforts to achieve equality, acceptance, and understanding for all gender and sexual identities. It involves challenging societal norms, breaking down barriers, and advocating for the rights and recognition of marginalized communities. The concept of progress is rooted in creating a more inclusive, diverse, and equitable world where everyone is free to express their identity without fear of discrimination.
